Research
A significant part of AHT's work involves carrying out research into ways to use these powerful new healing tools. We are currently working on four projects:
Parkinson's Disease
One major focus of our current research an alternative treatment for Parkinson's disease. A fascinating hypothesis regarding the origin of this disease has been developed by the Parkinson's Recovery Project see www.pdrecovery.org for further details and a free downloadable book. It looks like both emotional and physical trauma are at the root of the condition. In particular, a type of PTSD disassociation seems to lead to the effects well documented by existing research. In other words, trauma could be the cause of neural degeneration and as such trauma healing could lead to an effective treatment. We are currently in the early research phase, attempting to use our trauma healing methods to generate an effective treatment protocol.
Allergy elimitation
Theesa Egan is an experienced allergy elimination therapist using other modalities. She is using her knowledge of this discipline to explore more effective ways to heal allergies and food intolerances using AHT trauma healing.
Early testing of a new protocol is promising but wider testing is needed before we can offer this to clients or train therapists in this process.
Core Expression
One of AHT's key goals is to enable what we call 'core expression'. People experience this when they are 'in the flow' and their feelings of separation from their tasks and others starts to diminish. Most people can remember a time when they experienced something like this, whether playing sport, pursuing some creative activity, writing, or being in nature. From our perspective, trauma is what stops this state of being arising naturally. Our model of consciousness leads us to focus on both giving people more experiences of their 'core' and healing core traumas blocking core expression.
We already have a number of techniques to facilitate this but are now researching a way to make this process both faster and more complete. We will begin testing a new process shortly.
Developmental Co-ordination Disorders (DCD)
DCD, often called Dyspraxia in the past, is a developmental disorder that can affect a variety of gross and fine motor skills. People with this problem commonly have difficulties with hand writing, riding a bike, and a variety of other tasks requiring balance and co-ordinated movement. Working with a colleague of ours we are looking to combine a technique based on EMDR with one of our own methods to see if a lasting difference can be made to people with this problem.
